The Process

Have included this info, to give you some understanding of what happens once you decide on your session.  From a long term personal issue to difficulties in your current relationship to working to create a more positive future etc, counselling with us offers you the time and space to share your story and develop an understanding about how it is affecting your wellbeing.  And then importantly to develop practical tools, actions and new ways of “living” resulting in practical here and now solutions for you.

Questions are an important part of the counselling process.  They unlock the answers to your issue / future actions and can bring comfort to you and your current situation.

Your FIRST Session

Your first session will be for 60 minutes.  During this time, Jo will take time to listen to and understand your unique situation.  The focus will be on you and your story, your immediate needs and the results or changes you want to achieve.  It is important in this session to share any concerns you have and to ask any questions you have.  Counselling  is not about telling you what to do.  It is about working together in partnership with your counsellor.  It is important to assess your working together fit in this first session.  Jo will talk with you about this before subsequent sessions.

Keeping Track of your Progress

Each subsequent session will last for 50 minutes.  And each session will start with a review of developments, changes, feelings that have popped up, actions undertaken etc since the last session.  Reflection and feedback is very important.

At the core of effective counselling is the use of tools to support change, maintain the change as well as build confidence and resilience to meet future issues as well as enhance wellbeing each and every day.
